Janet Julian is an Artist/Musician who has been on the Portland scene since 1990. Her artwork has been gaining visibility since her arrival (Guardino Gallery, Crackpots, Crafty Wonderland, etc.).
Upon her arrival in the Rose City, Julian formed the band, Petty Cash ( existing in formats: solo, duo, trio and quartet) and has released several albums of original music: Forgiveness, Shrouded By Angels, Strictly Cash and a children’s album, OWEE!. The music of Petty Cash can be described as Rustic-American-Folk-Pop. It is derived from influences such as Peggy Seeger, The Supremes, Burt Bacharach and Incredible String Band set upon a sonic bed of traditional acoustic bluegrass instruments (guitar, banjo, mandolin and vocal harmonies). Janethas also participated in jazz (Spit & Shine), bluegrass (Rose City Ravens), Americana (Piney Jane) and rock & soul (Dan Haley’s FriendHarmonic Orchestra). She is currently recording an album of original songs with local music giant, Mike Danner.
